Ronald married Betty Shepard on
11th January 1942, in Cherington, Warwickshire. He was on active
service in the RAF at the time with
419 Squadron Royal Canadian Air Force based at Mildenhall in Suffolk.
He flew in Wellington bombers as an Air Gunner/Wireless Operator.
His final mission in Wellington Mk.III X3360 VR-R took off from
Mildenhall
at 23:15 on the 5th. August 1942 on a bombing operation to Essen and
crashed at Budberg, 9km NW of Duisbergh.
